The first try out to Arafali and Bardoli, circa 1960. Nothing could stop a Fiat 509, the "Balilla", but what had turned into soft sand or gluey mud. A couple of ingenious guys had their Balilla fitted with an additional gear box, reversed, thus getting 16 shifts. In the two lower shifts they could almost creep on walls! |
