The mind behind the war with Iraq
Not a statistician nor
a neurologist, I am nevertheless convinced that if you raise the number 2
to a power numerically equal to the number of the inhabitants of the earth
two brains mirroring each other – identical in all respects – can not be
found anywhere in the cosmos. This brings in an immense difficulty in
trying to understand the motives behind individual choices. Quite likely
we have to reach conclusions by sifting through a large collection of
known data, real facts, inference, hypotheses and self-biased induction
nor any two brains will get the same result concerning the brain under
scrutiny.
Here I am thinking of
Mr. George W. Bush and the psychic make up of the man who launched the war
against Iraq, a war unacceptable to the majority even if far well aware
how little of a saint Saddam Hussein may be, and several hypothesis came
to my mind.
-
He is a man of
strong resolve and will reach any goal he sets in front of himself. He
must be such a kind of man if he attained his actual political status.
So at one time he set in front of himself the goal of getting rid of
Saddam Hussein and sanctifying "the Axis of Evil" and he his going
through it. But … a resolute character and a perfectly defined goal and
you get obsessed, so no matter what obstacles, right or wrong, good or
bad, and you will go through it irrespective of the waters of the sea
where you launch your boat. Hence you may develop and nurture a notable
weakness, obsession, and this becomes a very dangerous trait when
handling power.
-
He his a weak mind,
and someone else is pulling the strings moving him around (hint: who is
pulling the wires?). So that we can no more give full consideration to
the man under scrutiny and we must try to find out who is the mind
beyond this matter, this makes understanding more difficult and
complicated.
-
He is the typical
weak mind hiding behind a mask of strength and firmness. So this mask
will give him a strong resolve, but …he is vested with power and might,
he can turn the world upside down at will and all this is beside a mask
and within a weakling. Danger ahead!
-
He is simply all
but clever, lacking wisdom and obstinate. We have no choice but to light
candles and pray.
-
He is far too
clever for poor beings like us so as to understand his foresight. One
day we will hail and thank him.
Any of the above
hints may hide more or less truth – so far all that we can do is just to
hypothesize according to our standards and remembering the saying that
"Even God won’t judge a person till after he has died" and so I should
keep to Zeno’s teaching: "Choose silence of all virtues, for by it you
hear other men’s imperfections, and conceal your own." And choosing this
will put me also on the safe side, why should I tell you that my mind
suggests me that he is a paranoid when personally I don't have any
consistent data to reach such a conclusion? |
