MORE ON CUTTING AND PASTING FROM THE COMMAND PROMPT

You may want to alter the behavior of the mouse in the command prompt window to more closely mimic its Windows behavior when cutting and pasting from the command prompt. To do so:

Open a command prompt window.

Click the MS-DOS icon (the Control menu) at the top-left of the window.

Select Properties from the menu.

Select the Misc tab.

Select the QuickEdit option from the Mouse section and click Apply.

You will now be able to select text from the command prompt window simply by selecting and dragging with the mouse (without needing to first click the Mark icon).

If you experience problems pasting into the command prompt window on a particular system, another relevant option in the Properties menu will help. Simply deselect the Fast Pasting checkbox on the Misc tab and then retry the operation. This forces Windows to use a different method of pasting into the command prompt window.
