PROBLEMS WITH BROWSING NETWORK NEIGHBORHOOD

When upgrading to Windows 98 or Windows 98 Second Edition from an earlier Windows version, you may find that you're unable to browse Network Neighborhood. No matter how you try to fix the problem in the Properties pages of the Network applet in Control Panel, you just receive an Unable To Browse The Network error.

If this happens, try checking the following key in the registry. Of course, remember to be cautious when using registry editing tools. Always back up the registry using the Registry Editor, the command line, or a third-party utility before making changes.

Go to Start | Run. In the dialog box, type regedit and click OK. When the Windows Registry Editor starts, navigate to the following location:

HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Network\

Real Mode Net

If you see an AutoLogon key in this location, you should highlight it and delete it. Then, restart Windows. You should be able to browse Network Neighborhood again.
